The position is based in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

As a member of the Innovation and Development team, you will be in charge of developing and the qualifying a portfolio of several projects varying from simple to complex.

This will involve identifying and developing technical solutions for color cosmetics formulas, from the very first step of the design to industrialization at contract manufacturers sites.

In this key role you will leverage your technical expertise, communication and project management skills.

Strong collaboration will be key to partner with the cross functional team, from internal (Marketing, Packaging development, Purchasing, Planning, Finance, Regulatory, Supply chain) to external (Suppliers, Contract manufacturers, Design agencies).

The delivered projects must-have success measures include launch delivery on-time, at the expected quality level, right capacity and right cost.

In addition, you will actively help to build strong organizational capabilities to improve overall team efficiency.

You will excel and enjoy this position if you are ready to actively handle the following missions:

  • Collaborating with Marketing and Packaging development on new briefs to answer needs that are technically and financially viable and advising on the best way to achieve requested formula performances.
  • Working closely with Procurement to answer to the Marketing briefs while respecting cost and gross margin targets.
  • Conducting risk assessment studies and providing project feasibility.
  • Designing new formulas at contract manufacturers, accordingly to the marketing briefs and considering packaging constraints.
  • Assessing texture and formula performance and guiding contract manufacturers to achieve best in class formulas. Anticipating at an early stage of formula development any kind of red flag that could jeopardize the launch.
  • Supporting Marketing by identifying points of differentiation from a technical standpoint and building strong story telling.
  • Working on actives selection.
  • Supporting claims management to ensure they are impactful from a business perspective.
  • Following up on every step of the formula development (formula lock, shade countermatching, stability and compatibility studies, testing ).
  • Ensuring the right level of information is provided to suppliers in order to get sufficient responses in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Managing industrialization and scale up phases and attending line trials at contract manufacturers sites, to ensure products are in line with quality expectation.
  • Working closely with Quality to provide bulk specifications. Approving quality standards and range boards for Semi-finished Goods and Finished Goods.
  • Leading handover meeting with the quality team.
  • Overall, following up on the timelines and reporting regularly on status of development issues to the immediate supervisor and to the project managers. Identifying mitigations plans and ensuring their deployment.
  • Maintaining catalogue and leading reformulation projects when needed.
  • Supporting sustainability and innovation programs. Establishing strong relationships with contract manufacturers to access innovations.

  • Experience working in technical roles, in the Beauty industry, minimum 3 years, with strong expertise in formulation and industrialization.
  • Academic qualifications: Scientific Bachelors (chemistry, formulation, or other relevant discipline).
  • Capability of operating in a fast-moving projects pipeline.
  • Willingness to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Problem-solving skills. Ability to identify smart solutions with the right level of pragmatism.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills for verbal and written communication of ideas, technical rationales, risks, issues, and recommendations.
  • Able to travel when required.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
