Job Purpose

  • The role exists to manage all aspects of financial control, reporting and analysis for the site Profit & Loss & Balance Sheet. This requires a full understanding of all aspects of the business and the issues affecting it, and participation as a key member of the site management team. Timely and accurate reporting, analysis and forecasting must be provided for local and Business Unit (BU) management.

Job Dimensions & Scope

  • The role is responsible for all financial control at the Mareuil site (130 FTEs, around €30M revenue). It has responsibility for 2 direct reports within the Finance function.

Principal Accountabilities

  • To ensure
  • all transactions entered into by the business are completely and accurately accounted for, recorded and reported
  • the ledgers maintained for the business unit accurately reflect the transactions entered into.
  • the adequate controls exist in the business to ensure that the assets are safeguarded and the business does not incur liabilities without proper approval.
  • stocks are safely stored and are accurately valued and controlled, including regular physical verification and ensuring accurate costings are maintained
  • with the site HR manager adequate controls are exercised for the local payrolls.
  • on all site, business sector and Amcor Group finance policies are complied with.
  • To report
  • to local and BU management both standard and supplementary reports, and any other information required to understand the performance of the business.
  • the necessary additional information to satisfy year-end / statutory reporting requirements.
  • on the impact of business and operational decisions on the financial health of the site. The reports might be requested by BU management, PGM, site management team.
  • To elaborate
  • the production of plans for the business (including annual budgeting, forecasts and similar projects) in collaboration with the site functions
  • Quarterly Profitability with Profit Margin Database tool (PMDB) so trends are understood and actions can be put in place to mitigate any negative margin trends
  • The site capital expenditure proposals with the support of the site management team
  • To participate
  • as member of the site management team, to the success of the plant and the site management team working closely with all key stakeholders and being a strong contributor
  • as support and strong business partner to the PGM regarding cost decision and strategic projects.
  • as site main owner to the Value+ analysis, discussion and follow up actions

The above list is not exhaustive but represents the main responsibilities expected of the role holder. It should be noted that as well as the management aspects there is a significant amount of hands-on work in producing financial results and other outputs. In addition to the above the role holder will be expected to undertake all reasonable tasks requested by management.

The post holder should be able to effectively plan and organise delivery within this dynamic environment.

  • Formal Qualifications And Experience
  • Relevant university degree or Professional Accounting Qualification
  • Proven record of manufacturing experience in financial controlling function
  • Experience of working in a SAP environment
  • Specific Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to interact in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to function within a matrix organization
  • Demonstrable business & commercial acumen in addition to traditional finance skills.
  • Strong IT skills. A good working knowledge of spreadsheet packages is essential.
