The selection is aimed at identifying a person capable of covering the function of Senior Project Engineer to be included within the Capital Projects Team (CPT) department of Air Liquide Group at the Bagneux office in Paris.

The Senior Project Engineer is the technical coordinator of the project and is therefore responsible (with the support of the various parties involved) that all the technical documents and related engineering activities are in accordance with the methods and times foreseen by the project.

The position reports to the Technical Services Leader and requires proven engineering management ability.

Missions & Responsibilities

As part of the South West Europe Industrial Direction, the Capital Projects Team is in charge of the proposal and execution phases of major investments aiming to extend, enhance, renovate the industrial facilities owned and operated by the Air Liquide Group in the South West Europe (SWE) cluster countries.

The proposed position requires knowledge with a high technical content and proven engineering management ability.

Depending on the size and complexity of the projects, the Senior Project Engineer will be assigned to one or more projects for which, with the support of the experts and technicians, she/he will have to carry out the following main tasks:

  • acquire contents of project and contractual documents, including the applicable technical attachments, highlighting any inconsistencies where present
  • take part in the proposal phase of new plants (greenfield, brownfield) or pipelines and in the definition of the relevant technical solutions, defining the basis of design, the main equipment, the integration with existing facilities (process/utilities connections, general arrangement vs location, etc.)
  • draw-up the general project specifications
  • draw-up the Technical Requisitions for the subcontracting of Engineering services and, when required, the subcontracting of Procurement, Supervision and Construction services / activities to external companies
  • carry out the technical alignment of the external companies offers developing the Technical Tabulation and the Technical Bid Evaluation
  • provide support to the Procurement Coordinator during the above mentioned services purchase order definition phase
  • follow the execution phase of the projects coordinating the engineering development, holding the relations (both under the technical and the management point of view) with the engineering contractor(s), suppliers, consultants & professionals, internal experts & Design Authorities, contractors
  • guarantee the quality of the design in compliance with project and contractual contents, company standards/procedures and applicable norms and regulations
  • support the PM in the assessment of the necessary engineering/experts resources and coordinate their activity
  • organizes the Project Document Management activity
  • support the permitting procedure(s) by the public bodies and local institutions by producing the required documentation
  • in case of public funding, ensure the production of the required technical documentation according to funding requirements
  • support the certification procedure(s) by providing the necessary engineering/documentary support
  • take care of all accomplishments related to labor's and plants' safety, including the implementation of a design allowing to respect labor's and plants' safety standards and regulations
  • take care of all accomplishments related to the Company's Industrial Management System (IMS) and to the Quality certification
  • during the erection phase, support the construction site for all engineering issues arising from construction activities, validate requests for deviations, keep updated the engineering contractor(s) and equipment suppliers of the variations

Profile

  • minimum 10 years of experience in project engineering and management
  • knowledge of Project Management tools
  • knowledge of a plant / pipeline project and construction phases
  • technical competences in engineering
  • basic knowledge of production processes of industrial gasses
  • knowledge of norms and regulations about process plant engineering
  • knowledge of norms and regulations about site construction works and safety
  • general knowledge about permitting procedures
  • knowledge of risk analysis methods (Hazop, FMEA)

Preferential qualification

  • bachelor's degree in process engineering
  • knowledge of industrial plant codes (API, ASME, PED, AISC, IBC, etc.)
  • knowledge of Air gases and Hydrogen production plants
  • knowledge of other language such as Italian or Spanish
