MISSIONS:

• The Commodity Manager is responsible for leading a team of Commodity Buyers, and managing the overall development of commodity strategies, negotiation of contracts and execution of budget.
• The Commodity Manager must mentor, direct, and manage the purchasing associates and will have direct line responsibilities for commodity buyers.
• This position will be instrumental in driving a positive culture of change within the purchasing team towards building a stronger total supply chain mentality.

Responsibilities & Activities

General Management

• Total management responsibility for Commodity Buyers.
• Mentor Commodity Buyers in the development, communication, and execution of their respective commodity strategies and Business Plan.
• Liaise with counterparts in other functional areas such as Sales, Engineering, Quality and Industrial to ensure alignment of activities and objectives
• Develop and maintain a team environment
• Propose the Commodity Strategies for the region ensuring these are aligned with global strategies and get them applied on a regional basis.
• Lead regular reporting of Budget to meet the Cost Saving Targets.
• Mentor Purchasing associates to better perform their job, and attain future personal goals.
• Participate in cost modeling, input into sourcing decisions, and process/procedure development.
• Ensure that purchasing procedures remain applied and aligned with true business practices. - Work with suppliers, buyers, program teams, and plants to drive cost reductions and inventory reductions.
• Work with all functions to help build an effective supply base to support internal customers’ expectations.
• Lead and participate to continuous improvement efforts.
• Provide support to other positions as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
• Integrate total supply chain cost drivers and how they can impact the total cost of ownership.
• Manage supplier relationships and operational issues
• Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise

Safety and Compliance

• Work with legal department to ensure legal soundness of supplier contractual relationships.
• Ensure compliance with all processes and procedures as defined by the Purchasing department.
• Get all Commodity associates signing the PO Code of Conduct and make sure it’s respected
• Must personally comply with Plastic Omnium Code of Conduct and all work rules, policies and procedures; and hold others accountable to the same standard
• Must comply with all safety rules and regulations, promote safety awareness, and hold others accountable to the same safety standards
