Wolcen Studio is a growing video game company with the headquarters located in Nice, France and a second, newer studio in Bucharest, Romania. Following a successful Kickstarter in June 2015, Wolcen Studio recently released its first title "Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem" and continues to take on new challenges.

We are looking for a passionate Gameplay Animator, who will be working within a multi-cultural team using Unreal Engine 5 across multiple disciplines to identify effective solutions.

Your day to day:

  • Create diverse and compelling character animations to enhance gameplay experience.
  • Develop animations from scratch or manipulate mocap data for in-game animation.
  • Prototype, keyframe, or block animations and polish animations as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with animation director, animators, game designers, and programmers to understand quality objectives and gameplay intentions.
  • Identify and report animation-related issues.
  • Test and debug animations within the game.
  • Estimate task time and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Actively contribute to promoting a transparent and learning culture within the team.

We are looking for someone with the following background and skills:

  • 2+ years of experience as an Animator in the video game industry.
  • Proficiency in Maya, 3ds Max, or MotionBuilder and experience with various rigs and setups.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Deep understanding of spatial movement and aesthetics.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and openness to change.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient written and verbal English communication.
  • Passion for improving workflows and tools.

You would a great fit if you would also have:

  • Experience in mocap clean-up, rigging, and skinning.
  • Advanced knowledge of MotionBuilder and motion capture techniques.
  • Professional experience in developing ARPG games.
  • Familiarity with Mel and Python scripting in Maya.
  • Positive and solution-oriented attitude towards game development.
